Roasting garlic in the oven creates a caramelized, sweet, nutty, and smooth taste that adds a subtle but decadent flavor to any dish. I love adding roasted garlic to everything, but my favorite is to roast whole bulbs of garlic, make it into a garlic paste, and spread it on toasted sliced baguettes —it’s next level!

You’ll Love This Roasted Garlic Recipe! It’s:

  • It is the perfect way to enhance the flavor of any dish! Raw garlic is cool, but once you taste the caramelized flavor of roasted garlic, you won’t want to go back!
  • You can use it to replace raw garlic and many recipes, like when you are making a salad dressing, hummus, a dip, or even garlic butter spread.
  • It is so easy! Most of the work is completely hands-off. Once you prepare the garlic for the oven, just sit back and let the heat from the oven work its magic!

Let Me Show You How Easy It Is To Make Roasted Garlic!

Here Are The Ingredients You’ll Need

  • Whole Heads of Garlic (Whole Garlic Bulbs): make sure to use fresh garlic bulbs for the best results.
  • Olive Oil: Any cooking oil will work. I like to use olive oil or avocado oil.
  • Seasonings: Enhance the flavor of the roasted garlic further by sprinkling a few spices on the garlic before roasting. My Bayou City All Purpose and Garlic Pepper are the best!

How To Make Roasted Garlic

  • Start with a sharp knife and cut the tip off of the garlic.
  • Place the garlic cut side up on a piece of aluminum foil.
  • Drizzle the exposed garlic with a couple of teaspoons of olive oil. Then, season with Bayou City All Purpose and Garlic Pepper.
  • Loosely wrap foil around the garlic bulb and place it in a shallow dish. Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F for 45 minutes.
  • Carefully remove the garlic from the oven and set it aside to cool and it is safe to handle. Once cooled, with your fingers squeeze out roasted garlic clove from its skin.
  • Use as desired! Roasted garlic cloves can be mashed into a paste, used as a topping, or spread over French bread for the best garlic bread you will ever taste!

Tips To Make The Perfect Roasted Garlic Every Time:

  • Do not cut too deep into the garlic bulb. Slice off about 1/4 inch or less off of the top.
  • There is no need to peel the garlic or remove the outer layers. This is actually needed to protect and encase the garlic while it roasts.
  • I do not recommend roasting individual cloves. The results will not be the same and the likelihood of the cloves burning is very high. Roast the garlic whole.
  • Place the foil-covered garlic bulbs in a small baking dish so that it is easier to remove from the oven.
  • After removing it from the oven, give it enough time to cool so that you do not burn your fingers.

Ways To Use Roasted Garlic

  • Make A Garlic Paste! You can use the smashed garlic as is, or you can enhance the flavor even further with fresh herbs. Try thyme, parsley, and rosemary.
  • Make Garlic Butter! Add 1 cup of high-quality butter for every 1-2 tablespoons of roasted garlic. Remember, you can also add herbs, salt, or even parmesan cheese to make an addicting garlic butter spread.
  • Add It To Sauces And Pasta! Add just a bit of this roasted garlic into my Jalapeno Mac and Cheese would make it even more irresistible!

Storage

You can store any unused roasted garlic in a small airtight container in the fridge for up to 10 days. You can place it in a freezer-safe bag and freeze it for up to 3 months.
