  • 1 orange sliced
  • 1 cup orange juice
Orange Honey Glaze

  • 1 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup orange marmalade
  • 1/4 cup dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp Bayou City Lemon Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp cloves
  • 1 tsp salt

Equipment

  • 1 roasting pan

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. In a shallow roasting pan, layer orange slices and pour in the orange juice.
  3. Place roasting rack in the roasting pan and add ham.
  4. In a saucepan over medium heat combine the brown sugar, honey, orange marmalade and salt. Stir until just combined
  5. Bring mixture to a slight bubble and let simmer, over medium heat for 4 minutes
  6. Pour half the glaze over the ham and bake for 50 minutes, uncovered.
  7. Pour the remaining glaze over the ham and bake another 20 minutes. if using a thermometer, it should read 140° F (60°C).
  8. Once the ham reaches the desired temperature, remove it from the oven, tent it with foil, and let it rest for about 15-20 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, resulting in a juicier ham.
  9. Carve the ham and serve it with the remaining glaze on the side.

Notes

Allow the ham to come to room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps it cook more evenly. Patting the ham dry with paper towels before applying the glaze ensures better adherence.
Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature of the ham. Insert it into the thickest part of the meat, avoiding contact with the bone. Remove the ham from the oven when it reaches 140°F (60°C).
Allow the ham to rest tented with foil after removing it from the oven. This step helps the juices redistribute, resulting in a juicier and more flavorful ham when sliced.
Feel free to tailor the sweetness of the glaze to your liking. If you prefer a sweeter ham, you can increase the honey and brown sugar slightly.
