Cheeseburger Sliders

These Chopped Cheeseburger Hawaiian Roll Sliders are a delicious twist on the classic New York chopped cheese sandwich, packed into soft, buttery Hawaiian rolls. Perfect for parties, game days, or a quick family meal, these sliders combine seasoned ground beef, melted cheese, and a flavorful topping of lettuce, tomatoes, and my not so secret sauce.

Ingredients
  

Beef Filling
  • 1 lb ground beef 80/20
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tbs Bayou City Garlic Pepper
  • 1 tbs worcestershire sauce
  • 10 slices American cheese or cheddar
Sliders
  • 12 hawaiian rolls sliced in half, horizontally
  • 2 tbsp butter melted
  • sesame seeds optional for topping
  • 1 cup lettuce shredded
  • 1 large tomato diced
Not So Secret Sauce
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbs ketchup
  • 1 tbs worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Spatula
  • baking sheet
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Mixing bowl

Method
 

Preheat the oven:
  1. Set your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Prepare the beef filling:
  1. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the chopped onions and cook for 2-3 minutes until softened.
  3. Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula, and season with salt, pepper, and garlic pepper.
  4. Cook until the beef is browned and fully cooked, about 6-8 minutes.
  5. Stir in Worcestershire sauce
  6. Lower the heat and mix in 6 pieces of chopped American cheese until melted and combined. Remove from heat. (reserve 4 pieces for topping)
Bake the sliders:
  1. Place the halves of the Hawaiian rolls on a baking sheet.
  2. Evenly spread the chopped cheese mixture over the bottom half of the rolls.
  3. Add remaining cheese slices over the beef mixture.
  4. Brush the tops halves of the rolls with melted butter and sprinkle with sesame seeds..
  5. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and cheese has melted
Assemble the sliders:
  1. Remove from the oven, let cool slightly.
  2. Add shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes over the beef mixture.
  3. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Drizzle over the top over the lettuce and tomato. (make extra for dipping).
  4. Place the top halves of the rolls over the filling, and slice into individual sliders.
  5. Serve immediately and enjoy!

  • For extra crunch, add pickles or crispy fried onions after baking.
  • Swap American cheese with cheddar or pepper jack for a different flavor profile.
  • These sliders can be prepped in advance and baked just before serving.
